NeoCon, Chicago, 13 – 15 June 2011

Lehmann steps up specialisation

During NeoCon from 13 to15 June 2011, Lehmann is informing show-goers about classic, perfected and forward-pointing developments for mechanical and electronic locking.

The Minden-based company has long been among Europe’s leading suppliers in its special discipline. Even if you hardly ever hear the company speak these words itself, you’ve got to respect the facts. Founded in 1962, Lehmann not only supplies the German market but customers in over 35 countries on all five continents too.

The capacity behind all this is recruited from the production sites in Minden and Porta Westfalica in Westphalia, Brandenburg/Havel and Eitorf. In addition to production, the central marketing and sales company, research and development as well as distribution logistics are concentrated at group headquarters in Minden. Some 300 member of staff currently work at the family-owned business, now in its second generation with Renate Schlüter at the helm.

The constant stream of innovations seen to come from Lehman count as milestones for the company and industry alike. The simple furniture locks originally manufactured were followed 30 years ago by taking the step of adding security technology to cylinder locks for office furniture while providing various levels of security. Epoch-making at the time was the ability to interchange cylinder cores. Development of electronic locking systems using keypad, wireless and transponder technology began 15 years ago. The breakthrough came with the intelligent modular principle, encouraging the tailored use of these forward-looking technologies.

Following the Lehmann Group’s acquisition of Huwil-Locks in 2009, consolidation of the product ranges and technical expertise of the two companies cements the claim of being specialists in mechanical and electronic locking systems for furniture and related segments. The system solution that has been created goes far beyond any simple harmonisation of product lines.

Distributor for the USA is Bommer Industries Inc., Landrum, SC,
